With Hot Swap Redundacy, the primary controller efficiently shares a fast signal, known as the "Heartbeat," with the backup controller, and vice versa. The setup enables the backup to take over swiftly in the event of a failure of the primary one. This rapid response ensures that the underlying technology, such as gen-set and mains, or invertor, remains unaffected, even during dynamic events like loading and unloading.

The feature and the quick transition can be especially beneficial for customers who use the ECU to communicate with the gen-set, because there are no disruptions in communication ("communication fail") on the ECU side during the switch from the primary to the backup system.
